Rudy & Sue in ‘97
Sue and Rudy met while working at McDonald’s as teenagers in high school back in 1994. She agreed to hang out at his house with some friends and watch a movie that they picked out together from Blockbuster Video - Forrest Gump. That night they shared their first kiss (the first of many over the years). Instead of dating, they ended up becoming best friends who spent many late nights at the local diner enjoying great conversations over coffee and sharing a cannoli. After watching the movie “My Best Friend’s Wedding” they (ironically) agreed that when they were 37 and if they were still single they would get together and get married (they thought 28 was too young). Throughout the years Rudy and Sue were always each other’s “backup” date. Any time one of them was single and needed a date to a wedding or a function, they’d ask the other to go. They slowly drifted apart as the two of them got involved in more serious relationships, although they never fully lost touch. After several years, they reached out to each other to check in on each other during a rough patch in their lives. They decided to get together for some drinks, and had a wonderful weekend rekindling their friendship. They started spending more weekends together, and both started “catching feelings”. Once they both admitted it, more adventures soon followed. Road trips across the Northeast to Spartan races on the weekends. Weddings. Parties and gatherings. Beach vacations. Spending holidays with each other’s families. So many brunches.
Eventually they moved in together and got engaged 7 months later (Rudy asked Sue’s parents for their blessing). Knowing each other for so long, Rudy knew what Sue’s dream proposal was; a bouquet of roses of each color and a card that read “you are my everything”. They got engaged on March 29th, 2019 and made it social media official on April 1st, 2019 (they love to mess with people). When they told their friends and family the news, the general response was “well, it’s about time!” World events delayed the wedding, but the two of them took all of that extra time to plan the wedding that they wanted. They waited a really long time for this. Plan on partying accordingly!
While each of them move to the beat of their own drum, both of them always knows what song is playing in the other ones head. Life will always be an adventure for these two and they are forever grateful to everyone that has taken part in their journey.
And the rest is history
